In this class we studied the past continuous again, especially how to make questions.....

 He was eating when I saw him.

 What was he doing when you saw him?

 We need to change the subject (he) and the verb to be (was) to make the question..

 We then went on to the past perfect..


When I got home, the children had gone to bed. 

 "had gone" tells us what had happened before another action in the past...

We began by revising the Past Continuous was were      +              verb-ing We often use it with the Past simple to talk about a longer action interrupted by a shorter action... I was cooking dinner when the phone rang. We then read about a farmer and his sons on p. In this story we saw examples of the Past Perfect When their father had died, the sons looked for the treasure. The Past Perfect is made from had + past participle (3rd part of the verb) We often use it with the Past Simple - the past perfect tells us what happened before the action in the past simple.... My friend rang me at 6.30pm and invited me to dinner, but I had just eaten. We revised the present perfect in the negative.... I haven't been to Dublin for six months.  I haven't seen my friend since last year. WE then continued to learn about the Past Continuous.... We revised the differences between the Present Simple and Continuous Present Simple Present Continuous I eat She eats I don’t eat She doesn’t eat Do you eat? Does he eat?
