LEVEL 4 GRAMMAR, NOVEMBER 9, 2017

We looked at when to use "some" and when to use "any"

I have some friends.
Do you have any money?
I don't have any milk left.

"some" for positives

"any" with negatives and questions

We can also use "any" when we want to say "whatever one, it doesn't matter".
"Which chair will I sit it?"
"Any chair, it doesn't matter."

We then looked again at the Present Simple and Continuous

Present Simple
Present Continuous

I go         he eats             we drive       she lives

·         Used for habitual actions, routines, everyday, often etc….
·         Can be used for the future with timetables – the class starts at 9.

I am going, he is eating, we are driving, she is living

·         Used for talking about now, at this moment
·         Also used to talk about the future when we are sure of our plans – “This weekend, I am visiting my parents.”
