LEVEL 5 GRAMMAR, OCTOBER 24TH, 2017
We spent some time revising “a”, “an” and “the”.
We also looked again at countables and
uncountables, specifically with few, a few, little, a little…
I am not popular, I have very few friends.
I am not rich, I have very little money.
We use “few” and “little” to emphasize a small
quantity of things.
They both mean “almost nothing”.
We use “a few” and “a little” to mean “some”…
I don’t have a lot of friends, but I am not
lonely; I have a few friends.
I am not rich, but I am not poor. I have a
little money.
We did this exercise for practice. For homework,
we had to complete it.
Also for homework, we have to write about what is
in our kitchens, using the countable and uncountable expressions
Eg. In my kitchen, there is a little milk, very
little rice (I have to buy more), a lot of eggs, a few strawberries, a lot of
knives and forks but very few spoons (I need more).
