LEVEL 4 GRAMMAR, 12/10/17
We began by looking at the use of articles – “a”, “an” and
“the”
We use “a” or “an” with singular, countable nouns.
I am wearing a shirt. The shirt is blue.
The first time we talk about a singular, countable
noun, we use “a” or “an”
We use “an” before words starting with a vowel
an orange
an empty bottle
I am wearing a
shirt.
The second time, now that we know which shirt we
are talking about, we use “the”
The shirt is blue.
We do not use a/an with plural nouns
Birds can fly.
We then looked again the present tense
I play
She plays
I don’t play
She doesn’t play
Do you play?
Does he play?
For homework we have to complete the questions on
p.11
