In this class we began by learning the differences between nouns, verbs and adjectives....

A Noun is a thing, person or place - table, brother, music, city, apple, cow
A Verb is an action word, something you do - go, eat, sit, work, cook, climb, feel
An Adjective is a word that describes a noun - happy, green, sad, tall, fantastic


We then learned some verbs connected to different jobs...

A policeman catches/arrests criminals and solves crimes
A waiter serves customers
A doctor treats patients
A nurse gives injections

It is important to remember that we need to use the third person "s" when talking about one person.

We also looked at the third person. The third person of the verb is He, She or It, and we need an "s" at the end of the verb. For the negative we need "doesn't" and in the question we use "does"
I work
She works

I don't work
She doesn't work

Do I work?
Does she work?

On most verbs we add "s"

I work - he works

On some verbs we add "es"

I wash - he washes

I watch - she watches

I finish - she finishes

With some verbs ending in "y" we must change to "ies"

I study - she studies

I cry - she cries

I fly - he flies

But, if there is a vowel before the "y" then we do not change

I play - she plays

I buy - he buys
